Now Open: Apply for the 2026-2027 APS Congressional Science Fellowship

We’re excited to share that applications are now open for the 2026–27 APS Congressional Science Fellowship! This unique opportunity places one APS member each year with a congressional office or committee to serve as a science and technology policy advisor on Capitol Hill.
Fellows work closely with policymakers and their staff on issues ranging from climate and energy to national security and education, bringing data-driven perspectives to the policy process.
Eligibility & Qualifications:
- Be a U.S. citizen and APS member
- Hold either a Ph.D. in physics (or a related field) or a master’s degree plus three years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrate interest in science policy through academic, professional, or community activities
- Show active engagement with APS (e.g., meetings, journals, units, advocacy)
Fellowship details:
- Duration: September 2026 – August 2027
- Stipend: $88,992 + relocation, professional development, and health insurance support
- Deadline to apply: Nov. 4, 2025
