I am writing to share information about the master's program in physics at Illinois State University with undergraduate physics majors in your department.

The ISU physics MS is a two year program requiring coursework and a research thesis. Applications are now being accepted for fall 2025 admission – early applications receive early decisions, but must be submitted by April 1 to be considered. Our department has 11 full-time faculty and over a million dollars in research grant funding with a small number of assistantships available. Research areas include particle theory, AMO, nanomaterials, laser physics, biophysics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, and plasma physics, among others. Interested students can contact me (mecapl1@ilstu.edu) or the department (physics@ilstu.edu) with questions.

Full information about the program can be found here: https://ilstu.edu/academics/physics-masters/

Faculty at ISU are also available for colloquia in the spring and can give an in-person recruitment presentation if there is interest.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,
Matt Caplan
