If you couldn’t be a physicist, what career would you choose?

Other than science, fitness/diet is what I am most interested in, so I would find a job related to those. For example, I could be an indoor cycling instructor. I have been taking spin classes since I was in grad school.

What is your favorite place?

Ski mountains.

What is the greatest scientific blunder in history?

Not properly recognizing female scientists’ work. One obvious example is the work of Rosalind Franklin. Her work was critical for the discovery of the DNA double helix structure by Watson and Crick.

Who is/are your favorite artist(s) in any medium—painters, composers, authors, filmmakers?

Painters: I like paintings by Van Gogh and Picasso.

Composers: I would say Beethoven? The "?" is because I seldom listen to classical music. lol

Among filmmakers, I like Robert Zemeckis.

Who is/are your favorite hero(es) in life or in fiction?

Abraham Lincoln and Luke Skywalker (both influenced by my son.)

Who is/are the villain(s) you love to hate?

Anyone who starts/supports wars.

What is your idea of happiness?

Skiing in Alta.

What is your idea of misery?

Plane delays and cancellations.

What quality do you most admire in others?

Someone with a very creative hunch in science.

What scientific question do you hope will be answered in your lifetime?

Existence of extraterrestrial life in any form.
